Wayne Hindmarsh

Wayne earned his pharmacy and Masters degree from the University of Saskatchewan and his PhD from the University of Alberta in 1970. His career began as a RCMP toxicologist. He is noted for his work in the area of drug abuse and served as president of PRIDE (Parent Resources Institute for Drug Education) Canada, a group promoting drug awareness. He has played a major role in this organization since its founding in 1983. He developed a resource book, Drugs, What Your Kids Should Know. Wayne has served as a Board Member of CPhA, president of AFPC and as Chair of PEBC. He is a past president of the Canadian Society of Forensic Science and in 1988 was named Pharmacist of the Year by the Saskatchewan Pharmaceutical Association for his efforts to curb drug abuse among young people. As an academic he has been the Assistant Dean of Pharmacy in Saskatchewan and Dean of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto. He has also led a CIDA project in the Caribbean to establish a regional examination along the lines of PEBC. Wayne received the CPhA Meritorious Service Award in 1989.
